TOKYO, November 28, 2016- VISIT TOHOKU Inc., a company that supports the development and promotion of the Tohoku region’s tourism sector, is planning the second iteration of the TOHOKU365 Project, “Go on the most sensational journey through Southern Miyagi Prefecture!”, in order to broadcast the charm of Tohoku overseas. Applications for those seeking to participate began on Tuesday, November 1st.
Southern Miyagi Prefecture* boasts a bountiful natural environment and history, traditional Japanese architecture, a tranquil rural landscape, and other tourist attractions, but suffers from a lack of widespread recognition that has posed a challenge for these local areas in promoting inbound tourism.
Accordingly, the TOHOKU365 Project is now accepting applications from Tuesday, November 1st through Thursday, November 15th for talented participants to raise awareness of the “Tohoku brand” and broadcast the region’s appeal to the rest of the world. The theme of the second project is to “Go on the most sensational journey through Southern Miyagi Prefecture!”, wherein one traveler will be chosen to journey through the Southern area of Miyagi Prefecture for approximately 30 days, visiting travel destinations and tasting local cuisine. The traveler will broadcast their experiences through the website TOHOKU365.com, as well as various social media sites.
Through this project, VISIT TOHOKU strives not only to help increase the number of visitors to the Tohoku region, but also contribute to the sustainable economic development and industrial revitalization of the area.
